District Docklands sits in a high-traffic public thoroughfare serving commuters, shoppers and visitors to Melbourne's waterfront. The wayfinding hardware needed to operate outdoors, year-round, in direct sunlight and Melbourne's wide temperature range. Indoor-grade screens and enclosures weren't viable. The solution needed high-brightness displays and climate-controlled enclosures built for the open air.
Envent designed and installed custom outdoor digital directories for The District Docklands, placed in the public thoroughfare to serve commuters and shoppers navigating the waterfront precinct. Each unit was built on the Sabre 55" dual portrait platform, featuring dual 55" HD 2000 NIT LCD panels engineered for full-daylight readability, PCAP touchscreens, Intel CPU hardware and integrated air conditioning to handle Melbourne's outdoor conditions. The system ran on Envent's Envention wayfinding and media scheduling platform, with customised software configured for the Docklands precinct layout.
