Queens Plaza, QLD

Queens Plaza needed digital directories that matched the premium aesthetic of one of Brisbane's most upscale shopping destinations. Standard enclosures were out of the question. Colonial First State wanted the hardware to disappear into the architecture, which meant building something that hadn't been done before in Australian retail: a through-glass LCD display system using ultrathin sandwiched lightboxes.

Envent designed and built Australia's first through-glass LCD digital directory system for Queens Plaza in Brisbane's CBD. The brief demanded hardware that integrated invisibly with the centre's premium interior architecture. Envent's answer was a completely custom ultrathin sandwiched lightbox enclosure, illuminating dual 50" HD 350 NIT LCD panels back-to-back through glass, creating a floating display effect that had never been achieved in an Australian retail installation. IR touchscreens and Intel CPU hardware completed the build, running on Envent's Envention wayfinding and media scheduling platform. The project was high-risk engineering that set a new benchmark for bespoke digital directory design in the retail sector.
