AMP Capital asked Envent to push beyond their existing Sabre installation at Macquarie Centre and deliver something new. Envent responded by pioneering through-glass touch technology in the Australian shopping centre industry and simultaneously redeveloping the software platform to produce a 3D visualisation of the centre.

32" Through-glass Ultraslim; proprietary dual back-to-back through-glass screens with simulated backlit panel for central illumination
The Macquarie Centre was already an Envent client, running dual-sided Indoor Sabre directories.
AMP Capital wanted to move beyond the existing solution and deploy the most advanced customer engagement technology available.
Through-glass touch displays existed elsewhere in the world but had not been applied to the Australian retail wayfinding context. No off-the-shelf solution existed that met the brief.
Envent invested in proprietary R&D to pioneer through-glass touch technology for the Australian shopping centre industry.
The engineering challenge was central illumination: back-to-back through-glass screens needed to be evenly lit to simulate an LED display without conventional backlighting.
Envent developed an ultra-thin proprietary simulated backlit panel to solve this, enabling a seamless dual-screen through-glass format. At the same time, Envent redeveloped the Envention software platform to introduce a full 3D visualisation of the centre — a step beyond flat floor-plan mapping.
The Macquarie Centre became the first Australian shopping centre to deploy through-glass wayfinding directories. The system runs Envention Wayfinder, Advertising and SMS Content throughout.
